IS EASTER RELEVANT?

April 2, 2010
That's one question on the mind of many. With some going a little further:
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus come?
  • Why did He die?
  • What is the relevance of His coming and His death?
  • How do humankind benefit from His coming and His death?
The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the GLORY of the LORD". Every human, before Christ came, were under the bondage of SIN. Humans everywhere were a product of Sin which therefore produced Death, Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".

Human fell short of the glory of God and redemption was by PAYING THE ULTIMATE PRICE.

The Bible in Hebrews 2:14 says, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"
The book of John 1:10 says, "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.".

JESUS HAD TO COME IN HUMAN FORM TO DEFEAT HIM WHO HAD POWER OF DEATH, THE DEVIL.

THE ULTIMATE PRICE - He took our place and died on the cross and the Bible records in Colossians 2:13-15 that "And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

NOW CHRIST HAS BROUGHT US UNTO GOD; HE HAD RECONCILED US AND HAD QUICKENED (MADE US ALIVE) IN THE SPIRIT.

He had suffered for sin once and for all. you don't need to suffer any more. Everything would be taken care of, once you just accept what Jesus did on the cross for you!
You need to pay for your past any more, He did it all. the Bible says in 1 Peter 3:18, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit"

SO WHAT NEXT? YOU ASK.

JUST ACCEPT ALL HE DID FOR YOU, BY ACCEPTING HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR.
In Romans 10:9-10, the Bible says "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." .

SO YOU SEE EASTER IS A TIME SET ASIDE TO CELEBRATE THE DEEDS OF THE LORD IN OUR LIFE AND TO REFLECT ON OUR CHRISTIAN WALK OF FAITH.

Jesus died and was buried and on the third day, He arose from death (Acts 2:23-24) after having defeated death.
So if we were to work with the days of the holiday, He died on GOOD FRIDAY and rose on EASTER SUNDAY, which is why the Christian Church Services today are mostly on SUNDAYS with the exception of few.

HOW TO CHANGE THAT SITUATION
